Orleans was one of the earlier cities in France to decide the construction
of a new tramway network. It has its 10th anniversary now, and I decided to
see what happened since my first visit in 2001. Well, not too much - the
system is in good condition, unfortunately only two short parts were running
at my visit because of the celebrations of may 8 (end of WW2). Furthermore,
the weather was still bad, and I had to ride a bus to find the southern part
of the line.
A second line is to be built, and I managed to see the two first trams for
this, which will use "alimentation par sol", which means, it's a kind of
Maerklin Railway

railway stations (from Fleury Jules Verne to Gare des Aubrais and Gare
d'Orleans)

Orleans hat seine erste Tram 2000 eröffnet, und nach 10 Jahren war es Zeit
nachzusehen ob noch alles in Ordnung ist - Antwort: Ja, alles wie es sein
soll, nur das Wetter nicht. Ausserdem war die Linie wegen Feiern zum
Kriegsende am 8.5. geteilt.
Eine zweite Linie ist in Bauvorbereitung, sie wird auf
http://www.cleo.agglo-orleans.fr/ beschrieben und soll auf einem kurzen
Stück per Unterleitung versorgt werden - immerhin geht es direkt an der
berühmten Kathedrale vorbei.
Heute ein paar Fotos des nördlichen Teils, der von from Fleury Jules Verne
zum Gare des Aubrais und Gare d'Orleans führt.
