Hello!
First of all I apologize for writing in English -
although I understand German, I don't master it that
well. I am a member of the Means of Transportation
Friends Forum from Romania and I'm from Iasi. While
googling for photos of some restored tram cars, I came
across your group, and, more precisely, I found some
great photos of St. Pöltner 4 together with related
commentaries. Here is the abstract I would like to
comment upon:
"Wie man aus regelrechten Schrotthaufen fast
fabriksneu wirkende Triebwagen macht, damit haben die
Mariazeller auch genug Erfahrung, wie deren Homepage
http://www.museumstramway.at beweist (z.B. A 7m)."
This was a reaction to someone's statement that it
were next to impossible - or, anyway, very difficult -
to restore a particular tram (07). I totally agree
with what is stated in the above quotation, except for
the example given in brackets, in case it implies that
employees of the Mariazell tramway musem restored the
A 7m tram car. The following tram cars and trailer
were restored by a team supervised by Dorian Geba in a
workshop located in Iasi, Romania, workshop which is
part of the local transport company (RATP): A 7m
(restored 2000), q 1020 (restored 2000), St. Pöltner 4
(restored 2001), K 2362 (restored 2002), Baden 100
(restored 2003), L 2062 (restored 2004), St. Pöltner 3
(restored 2005) and Salzburger MBCL 109 (which is to
be delivered to Mariazell in two weeks). This list is
not available anywhere on the internet (this is a
first!). You can find some articles from Romanian
newspapers, but they do not contain recent
information; you'll get some results if you enter
"Dorian Geba" in a search engine (I used Google). You
may also consult the article "Romanian workshop sets
pace in transportation" published in the "Old Glory -
Vintage Restoration Today" magazine, no. 146,
published in April 2002.
If you are interesed in further details, just ask me,
and, if I'm not able to answer, I'll ask Mr. Geba.
